We have a specialised department dealing with the representation of our clients who have been reported for an offence, or summonsed or charged with a motoring offence. Our area of work is likely to cover:
We are contracted to the Legal Aid Authority and can provide advice at a Police Station free of charge in many cases. We will always explain that to you at the time. In all other cases, not covered under that scheme, you will be charged for the work we carry out. The charge we make will always be agreed with you before we accept your instructions.
The amount we charge will vary depending on the experience of the Lawyer dealing with your case, the complexity of the case and the time we expect to spend on the case. Our charging rates will vary between £175 per hour up to £210 per hour depending on the matters mentioned above. By way of guidance a guilty plea in a Magistrates’ Court in respect of a minor motoring offence concluded at one hearing will be £300. A more complicated matter requiring two hearings will be between £500 and £750. A trial (not guilty hearing) covering two hearings will be between £200 and £500 where the actual trial does not exceed one day. A 2-day trial would be between £700 and £2,200. There may be additional charges for travelling time and expenses, which we will always agree with you first.
An appeal on a motoring case in the Crown Court is likely to cost between £500 and £2,000 but may exceed this depending on the level of barrister or advocate instructed. We will always obtain an accurate estimate of fees before instructing an independent barrister.
We will always advise you of the experience and qualifications of the lawyer or lawyers assigned to your case, and provide you with details of the key stages and typical timescales.
The above figures are exclusive of VAT and the appropriate amount of VAT will be added to your invoice at the rate applicable at the date of invoice.
